We presented the eighth edition of Film Africa. Showcasing 39 titles from 15 different
African countries, including 18 UK, European and World premieres, the 2018 festival was yet another cinematic and cultural feast which will challenged, moved and inspired you!

Film Africa 2018 launched on Friday 2 November with the UK premiere of Blitz Bazawule’s The Burial of Kojo, an assured debut feature by Ghana’s foremost hip-hop artist turned filmmaker, and closed on Sunday 11 November with the UK premiere of Kasala! by up-and-coming Nigerian director Ema Edosio.

In 2018 we focused on burgeoning cinema from two major creative hotspots on the continent, Kenya and Nigeria, through Afrobubblegum: Kenya's Movie Mavericks and The Naija New Wave. Other special strands, Young Rebels and [Up]Rooted, explored the universal themes of youth, rebellion and the precariousness of migration. And our Dine & View and Film Africa LIVE! strands returned due to popular demand, as did our festival awards - the Baobab Award for Best Short Film and the Film Africa Audience Award for Best Feature Film.

There are no Films for this Festival Year
