Film Africa 2024: Keith Shiri To Lead Dynamic Curation Celebrating African Cinema

Keith Shiri will spearhead the curation for Film Africa 2024. With an extensive background in championing African cinema, international curation and film festivals, Shiri has significantly elevated its profile in the United Kingdom, Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean.

Film Africa is set to unite diverse and dynamic film talents from Africa and its diaspora, celebrating the vibrant energy that Africans bring to the world of film. Leveraging digital technology to create compelling narratives, the burgeoning African film industry contributes to the unique African aesthetic and the expansive power of imagination and storytelling.

This festival will present a thoughtfully curated selection of over 70 titles at various venues across London. Kicking off with an Opening Ceremony on October 25th, attended by directors and principal cast members, and concluding with a Closing Celebration on November 3rd, featuring exclusive Q&A sessions with directors. Our goal is to provide a program filled with films that entertain, confront, and inspire our daily lived experiences.

The diverse program will encompass feature films, documentaries, animation, and a shorts program competition for emerging talents. This year, we are proud to present a special collection of African film classics, including the African Heritage Programme, meticulously restored by The Film Foundation’s World Cinema Project and the Cineteca di Bologna.

Complementing the screening program, Film Africa will feature on-stage events, including Q&A sessions with invited filmmakers, panel discussions on film distribution, and workshops led by industry leaders. Additionally, there will be insights into existing and new commercial financing opportunities in the film industry.
