Set in Lagos, Nigeria, Eyimofe follows the life and desires of Rosa, a hairdresser, and Mofe, a factory technician, two economically disadvantaged people who are set on seeking better fortunes abroad. It is the debut feature film of co-directors and brothers, Arie and Chuko Esiri. The film is an intimate portrait of the daily drudgery and struggles of ordinary Lagosians like its lead characters, trying to make a life for themselves. Eyimofe is a heart song for freedom, resilience, and the choices we are often forced to make.

Arie Esiri & Chuko Esiri

Arie and Chuko Esiri were born 30 minutes apart in Warri, Nigeria. Growing up in Lagos their mother would put a padlock on the TV in a misguided attempt to make them more studious.

20 years later both would enroll at film school. Arie graduated from Columbia University and Chuko NYU. During their time in New York they collaborated on a pair of short films; Besida which premiered at the 68th Berlinale, Goose, at the LA Film Festival. Eyimofe is their first feature film.
