In 2015, demonstrations against Pierre Nkurunziza’s third term bring thousands to the streets of Bujumbura. As the violence gains ground and many including his own family flee, Munyaneza picks up his camera. Eventually seeking refuge in Senegal, Munyaneza goes in search of his family, along the way encountering those who stayed and those who chose the path of exile.
Eddy Munyaneza, born in Gitéga is a writer-director, producer, cameraman and sound engineer. He is a Graduate of the Gaston Berger University of Saint-Louis of Senegal. In 2008, he directed the film Burundi, heart of Africa letter in pictures, and then in 2010 he directed History of a hatred missed. The latter has been selected at European and African festivals and has received awards as Special Prize for Human Rights at FESPACO (2011). He has worked in documentary production for UNICEF and UNDP. In July 2012, he co-founded Grands Lacs TV Films Production. Uncertain future is his first documentary feature film.
