The AFC Cinema Pool Gallery functions as a cooperative of film, television and new media resource for Member nations of the African Film Commission (AFC Network). The Pool allows the film, television and new media industries of Africa to organize and expand their domestic and international distribution. Content from around the world that focus on Africa and its Diasporas are considered.
AFC AWARD
AFC annually recognizes individuals in the areas of exceptional artistic and humanitarian leadership. The AFC Award is given in the following categories: Screenwriting, Directing, Producing, Cinematography, Editing, Acting, Arts & Humanities.
AFC honors the "Distinguished International Person of the Year", reserved for personalities who have contributed to peace and humanity.
AFC also confers honor on people and entities who have significantly supported and collaborated with the Commission or made contribution to film education in Africa.
AFC INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
The AFC International Film Festival is the African Film commission's official film festival. It is trans-continental Africa and global gathering. Each year the festival will be situated in a different AFC Network Nation within the Regional Economic Community/Region throughout the African continent. The 1ST AFC INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL will showcase content from Africa, its Diasporas and from all over the world, that represents the highest aspirations of global hope and consciousness as well as explores the reality of the human condition with clarity, truth and respect for the dignity of life.
AFC GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS
Government Affairs of the African Film Commission is for the cultural, trade, policy-making and regulations of African film and audiovisual industries in Africa.
In a high-level meeting, AFC Government Affairs' participants will meet, discuss and act on issues including: Intellectual Property, industry trade, policy and regulations, implementation of national/regional film commissions in the continent, their economic impact and socio-cultural development. Activities of Government Affairs of the African Film Commission are extended to foreign affairs in the economic, cultural and diplomatic spheres.
AFC CONFERENCE
The African Film Commission Conference Series will be held in various African nations and internationally. The Conferences will address the spectrum of film, television and new media industries. AFC Conference Series ranges from production, distribution and exhibition of film as well as the regulation and protection of film and audiovisual products in Africa. Delivered by leading international craftsmen, professional and scholars of film,TV and new media; filmmakers, students, government and business leaders, and others participating in these events will be provided with guideline and motivation to take action in the industry. The AFC Conference Series attendance is open to all interested parties worldwide.
AFC STORYTELLING SCREENWRITING COMPETITION
The African Film Commission (AFC) Storytelling International Screenwriting competition was conceived to create greater international cooperation in bringing African subject matters and locals to the screen. The contest inspires writers from around the world to creatively contribute to a better understanding of Africa within a universal context. The objective is to promote exceptional screenplays and documentary projects that use authentic African themes and locales for stories of our shared humanity, tales of past, present and future with respect for the dignity of life.
Winners whose excellent projects combine African content and locations will be awarded a trip and prizes - they will also receive the full support of the AFC so that these outstanding screenplay and documentary projects may get the best opportunities for production.
