Dir. Amédée Pacôme
Gabon. 2018. 54 mins. Guissire and French with English subs.
Young boxer, Christ, trains relentlessly by day, and at night works as a doorman in Libreville nightclubs. Pacôme’s intuitive feature debut implies more than it reveals. Gabon’s impending presidential election is seemingly incidental, reported casually on radio and TV, although its outcome will govern the lives of Christ and his love ones.
Young Gabonese director Amedee Pacome Nkoulou started as an assistant director for feature films and documentary series. In parallel with his creations, he works at the Gabonese Institute of Image and Sound. His first short fiction film, L’Enfant Unique (2014), was selected at FESPACO, at Ecrans Noirs among other African festivals. Boxing Libreville, is his first full-length documentary.
